Georgia O'Keeffe's Patio Door with Green Leaf and her cloud paintings have long been some of my favorite images, living in my mind's eye only to re-emerge on a fall morning as I looked up at yellow and red leaf with a blue sky behind it. Wanting to show off the leaves' luminosity, I started collecting the brightest-colored ones I could find, photographing them on a light table to reveal their delicate veins.

Today's tools enable photographers to work in ways open only to painters in previous generations, making it easy to execute my vision using simple photo collages. To me, these images are remembered glimpse of a perfect autumn day.
